Connecting the Labs & Conducting Remote Experiments
This wiki is intended to facilitate the setup of co-simulation or remote experiments in the European Virtual Smart Grid Laboratory. Please suggest ideas for collaboration or about standards, advertise hard- and software resources you want to share or would like access to, etc. Resulting collaborations can be found in the Category:Projects. Please keep the info on your collaborations updated.

How can we collaborate?
Several partners have developed sophisticated smart grid related simulation tools that are often complementary in nature. For instance, one simulation tool will dynamically match power supply and demand based on real-time inputs, while another simulator (at another lab) is specifically designed to simulate the stochastic nature of power supply from renewables such as solar or wind. Linking these simulators up creates a more valuable tool, the results of which will provide investigators with more detailed and realistic predictions. Unfortunately, in most cases these simulators are built using a wide variety of home-grown or proprietary software tools (Matlab, LabView, Simulink, AutoCad, ..., etc) which makes integration challenging.
For that reason we propose to facilitate interaction and collaboration by adhering to a RESTful webservice strategy in which each simulator is seen as a resource that can be approached via the standard HTTP commands GET (to retrieve results) and POST (to communicate input parameters) commands.

Services Requested CWI: We are looking for simulators from other partners, which we will be able to connect to our electricity market simulator (CLEMEL). For example, simulators of: * power supply from PV installations or wind turbines (separate units or aggregated parks) * power demand from electric vehicles that are able to adjust their behaviour in response to a market price (price-based demand response) * smart buildings with price-based demand response
Interactive remote experiments: this type of application carries obvious risks, and will require appropriate safety and security measures;
